The Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) is about minimising pollution from various industrial sources throughout the European Union. The IED is based on several principles, namely an integrated approach to avoid pollution, application of best available techniques to reduce emissions, soil protection, enforcement supported by inspections and public participation. It is in the interest of the European Union to foster the implementation of the IED by creating a level playing field.
