The overall objective of DOTCOM Waste is to increase the capabilities of law enforcement agencies (LEAs), customs and port authorities, environmental agencies, and prosecutors to fight cross-border waste crime more cost effectively. IMPEL was a member of the high-level advisory board, established to act as a soundboard for the activities and directions of the project.
The project started in January 2016 and has now come to an end. In its final newsletter it provides a brief overview of the project’s achievements and outcomes.
Highlights include:
- Online training toolkit
- Series of webinars
- On-line library containing over 150 sources of information and references related to combating waste crime
- Two multi-disciplinary face-to-face training sessions in Italy and China
