Have your say: Consultation on the Environmental Crime Directive open until 03/05/2021

The European Commission has asked for input from the public and a broad range of stakeholders according to their interests and expertise in this subject. They include:
- Academic/research institutions
- Government authorities in charge of environmental policy
- National prosecutors and professional networks for prosecutors
- National judges and professional network for judges
- National law enforcement professionals or professional networks of law enforcement
- Local/regional authorities
- European or international bodies dealing with environmental crime
- Non-governmental organisations (NGO)
- Business/industry or business/industry associations
- Consumer organisations and citizens
The outcome of an evaluation of the environmental crime directive held in 2019-2020 showed that it did not fully meet is objectives. Through this consultation the Commission seeks stakeholders’ opinions and experiences on possible ways forward to improve the Directive.
The stakeholder consultation has two objectives:
- To collect views on the effectiveness of the considered options for revision of the Environmental Crime Directive.
- To allow for additional feedback and suggestions, for example on possible negative or positive impacts of envisaged changes or more detailed explanations.
It contains general questions designed to collect feedback from the general public and more detailed questions targeting expert stakeholders.

You can contribute to this consultation by filling in the online questionnaire which is available in in some or all official EU languages. You can submit your responses in any official EU language, and you can do that here:
