Guidance document on the definition of hazardous waste published by the Commission

January 25, 2016

The legislation concerning waste classification has been recently reviewed. Those involved in the production, assessment, management and regulation of hazardous waste were in need of a comprehensive reference manual which provides technical guidance on the assessment and classification of hazardous waste.

The objective of this study was to assist the Commission in the development of such a guidance document, based on a thorough analysis of the legislative framework, the relevant literature and, if needed, field research, and contributions from experts (from competent authorities, testing laboratories, industry and waste management practitioners).
