On Wednesday, 28 June, IMPEL delivered a presentation at the international seminar “Russian legal framework and best European practice on waste management: possible combination of approaches to environmental protection”.
The seminar was organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation in cooperation with the EU Delegation to Russia and the Embassies of Germany, France, Finland, and the Netherlands. The discussions, led by the European and Russian experts, aimed at the exchange of legal solutions and good practices in the areas of management of household waste and industrial waste processing, and included presentations of experiences from different regions of the Russian Federation.

IMPEL was invited to present its work and activities in relation to waste management. Ms Katie Olley, Scottish EPA, project leader of the IMPEL Enforcement Actions Project, delivered an intervention in particular the work of the Waste and TFS cluster, focusing on the Enforcement Actions project. The presentation was well received. Ms Olley subsequently met the Basel Conventon contact point for the Russian Federation who is open to further joint initiatives to build capacity amongst regulators.
