IMPEL wishes to share its knowledge and expertise with organisations in Europe that are involved in the implementation and enforcement of environmental law. Currently, IMPEL has over 55 members from more than 35 countries, and is welcoming more members.
Environmental issues generally do not stop at national or regional borders. That is why it is so important to get to know and collaborate with colleagues in other European countries to be more effective. This benefit has proven to be a priceless asset of the membership of IMPEL.
Membership of IMPEL is open to public authorities that implement and enforce environmental legislation. It is not open to individuals. Typically, membership is taken up by EPA’s, inspectorates, permitting agencies and ministries. Associations of organisations and authorities working on implementation and enforcement of environmental legislation can also become a member of IMPEL.
IMPEL membership offers a lot of benefits, such as sharing of knowledge and expertise, using new tools, networking, increasing capacity building, networking and meeting colleagues from all other European authorities and organisations in the environmental law enforcement chain.
