  • IMPEL National Peer Review Initiative Project

    The project aims at setting the basis for the development of autonomous Peer Review activities in National Networks of Environmental Authorities and Agencies. It can be used as an instrument to improve own performances through dialog, collaborative confrontation and sharing of good practices among the peers belonging to the same network. The NPRI has been recognised as a powerful tool to support the implementation of the EU ECA initiative, in particular because of its potential to apply good and best practices and its contribution to harmonisation in the execution of tasks and responsibilities by authorities. The NPRI project involves 20 institutions from 15 European countries that are part of IMPEL.

  • Conference: Exchange of enforcement practices to drive zero pollution

    Conference: Exchange of enforcement practices to drive zero pollution was organised by the Italian Government and Carabinieri, in cooperation with European Commission, DG ENV, through the Directorate for Zero Pollution and Green Cities, in the European Parliament on 7 February 2023 in Brussels. The Conference concentrated on the remediation of landfills and exchange of enforcement practices to drive zero pollution. In the midst of the implementation of the European Green Deal and in light of the 2021 Zero Pollution Action Plan, the purpose of the Conference was to shed light on lessons learnt so far and facilitate exchanges of views with other relevant enforcement actors. The Board of IMPEL, gave a speech at the conference to present perspectives on multi agency cooperation environmental enforcement efforts being carried out by authorities, between and within IMPEL member countries.

    Il progetto IMPEL "Gestione dei rifiuti ed economia circolare" (WMCE) si sta muovendo attraverso le fasi della gerarchia dei rifiuti, al fine di raggiungere una comprensione comune dei punti chiave della Direttiva Quadro sui Rifiuti e di omogeneizzare i comportamenti negli Stati Membri. Il progetto ha già prodotto documenti di orientamento relativi alle fasi della gerarchia dei rifiuti nelle fasi precedenti del progetto.

    IMPEL Supporting IED Implementation Project ha organizzato un'ispezione congiunta presso un impianto di produzione di pasta di carta in Svezia. Il gruppo di lavoro ispezione e prevenzione dell'ET industria e aria ha organizzato la sua 14a ispezione congiunta presso un impianto di produzione di pasta di legno e carta in Svezia l'8-9 dicembre 2022. Si è trattato della prima ispezione congiunta dopo Corona. All'ispezione hanno partecipato ispettori provenienti da Svezia, Paesi Bassi e Finlandia, mentre un ispettore del Regno Unito ha partecipato ai preparativi.

    Il progetto IMPEL sul riciclaggio delle navi mira a migliorare la collaborazione tra le autorità ambientali e marittime coinvolte in questo settore. Le diverse legislazioni dell'UE e le relative competenze rendono difficile l'attuazione, la supervisione e l'applicazione. Per prevenire le spedizioni illegali verrà sviluppato materiale di orientamento per le autorità e le altre parti interessate e verrà organizzato lo sviluppo di capacità per gli ispettori e le altre parti interessate. Verrà inoltre esplorata la cooperazione con altre istituzioni, agenzie, reti all'interno e all'esterno dell'UE e con organismi non governativi.
