IMPEL General Assembly votes for a future proof IMPEL

03 Mar, 2022

The General Assembly of IMPEL, the highest body in the organisation, concluded its annual meeting on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2020 on a positive note. Despite the fact that the General Assembly members, with over 70 persons attending, were not able to physically meet and catch up with each other during this edition due to the pandemic, they debated actively and ultimately voted positively on several essential agenda items in order to make the organisation fit for the future.

Originally planned to be held in Berlin, it was still hosted in Berlin albeit virtually, by German National Coordinator and IMPEL chair mrs. Kristina Rabe and German National Representative mr. Matthias Sauer of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, following that the Federal Republic of Germany fulfills the Presidency of the Council of the European Union until 31 December 2020.

Mrs. Kristina Rabe was re-elected as chair of the IMPEL Board, for which she was congratulated. In turn, she thanked the General Assembly for the trust she was given and she re-emphasized that 2020 has been an unexpectedly difficult and confronting year for all.  She formally ended the General Assembly by wishing all a very well deserved Christmas break with family and loves ones.

National Coordinator of Slovenia, mr.  Bojan Počkar, invited the IMPEL General Assembly to its next – hopefully physical – meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 7 and 8 December 2021, with the IMPEL National Coordinators meeting taking place on 6 December 2021. Slovenia will fulfill the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July 2021 until 31 December 2021 – with Portugal having this role from 1 January 2021 to 30 June 2021.
