  • 21st IMPEL General Assembly – Lisbon

    The 21st IMPEL General Assembly (GA) meeting took place virtually between 29-30 June 2021. Over 80 members and experts participated. The GA was chaired by Mr José Brito e Silva, Inspector-General of IGAMAOT, Ms Ana Garcia, IMPEL Portuguese coordinator from IGAMAOT and the Chair of IMPEL, Ms Kristina Rabe. The main focus for the GA was agreement of governance reform proposals and decision making procedures for the network.

  • SWEAP, Inspection Data Reporting Application

    To record inspection data on transfrontier shipments (TFS) of waste on the spot, the LIFE SWEAP project developed an inspection data reporting application for mobile devices. The app is for inspectors and law enforcement officers in the EU to record their inspections of waste shipments and allow their organisations to have a full record of the inspections, the violations detected and follow-up actions.

  • EU Green Week 2021 discusses the Zero Pollution Ambition

    The European Commission held the Green Week as a virtual conference focusing on the Zero Pollution Ambition. The event took place on 1-4 June 2021. On 2nd of June, Water and Land Expert Team Leader Marco Falconi took part in Session 4.3 Counting down to a cleaner future: monitoring the risks of hazardous chemicals. Mr. Falconi gave a presentation about Contaminated Sites Management and IMPEL Project on Water and Land Remediation.

  • Landmark cases for biodiversity

    During March and April 2021, a survey was conducted among environmental law professionals including judges, prosecutors, experts and NGO lawyers, to identify outstanding cases for nature conservation. Environmental justice is the last line of defense for the environment. In the run-up to the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 15), ClientEarth has compiled this selection of ten landmark cases for biodiversity from around the world.
