The European Environment Agency in Copenhagen kindly hosted the IMPEL network to examine what a Regulatory Strategy is, why have one and what should it contain.
Case Studies from Scotland in the UK called, ‘One Planet Prosperity’ helped to guide the way as did presentations from academics, Martin de Bree of Erasmus University on ‘Learning from other Fields’ using examples from healthcare, education and industry, and Dr Grant Pink on the ‘Regulatory Pendulum’. The conference was held from the 13-15 September and included a site visit to Kalundborg industrial symbiosis, an innovative collaborative venture west of Copenhagen that encourages and thrives upon the circular economy – in simple terms, ‘what one’s waste is, is another one’s resource’.
