The Environment Agency in England is organising a Flood and Coast Conference that will take place in June. As part of the conference, they issue awards to recognise work that has contributed towards managing flood & coastal risk, supporting flood resilience and tackling climate change.
One of the awards is for international excellence, and this could be a good opportunity for IMPEL members to nominate their organisations for an award to recognise some of the innovative work being undertaken.
The guidance notes on how to apply are available on the Flood and Coast website as well as here.
The International Excellence award, part of wider Flood & Coast Excellence Awards, is open to any project, scheme or initiative that has taken action on climate change linked to flood and coastal risk management or has contributed to managing and building local resilience to flooding.
This award recognises world-class practices and approaches to managing flooding and coastal erosion that are not currently mainstream. Submissions in this category should demonstrate:
- technical excellence in delivering flood risk management and managing coastal change;
- emerging international thinking and research on flood and coastal risk management issues; and/or
- effective partnerships, engagement or shared learning between countries.
The deadline for applications is Friday 13 March. IMPEL members don’t have to commit to attending the Flood & Coast 2020 conference in order to enter their project, but IMPEL members are welcome to join.
