Successful Cross-cutting Expert Team Meeting held on 18 – 20 September 2019, Slovenia

September 20, 2019

The Cross-cutting tools and approaches Expert Team met on 18 – 20 September 2019 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at the Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia for the Environment and Spatial Planning. This three-day meeting brought together 23 experts from 20 different IMPEL Member countries who are active practitioners in different competent authorities within the environmental scope.

There was a development session which included a discussion on the governance of the expert team, broadening IMPEL’s membership and a brainstorm of ideas for future mini conferences. Project Managers delivered presentations and updated the Expert Team about the progress made in the 2019 Cross-cutting projects.

Different strategic updates were given, namely on IMPEL’s partnership projects (SWEAP, SPIDER WEB and WasteForce), the EU Environmental Compliance Assurance Initiative (ECA) and the 2020+ funding mechanism.

Milieu delivered a presentation on their main findings from the survey on capacity building and training needs of IMPEL members, which lead to a parallel workshop session about this topic and, consequently, on the implementation of a ‘Knowledge and Innovation Centre’.

The meeting was wrapped up with a discussion about the Expert Team’s future work programme.
