Knowledge Exchange Programme on Waste Management and Circular Economy
According to the IMPEL Implementation Challenges Report, the majority of survey participants agreed that training and knowledge exchange offered by IMPEL would be valuable in addressing challenges in the waste sector. Specific waste streams and waste management topics requiring attention have been identified.
This programme is designed to facilitate practical knowledge exchange. Small teams (up to three participants) will visit colleagues in other member organisations for a few days to learn how implementation challenges have been successfully addressed. These challenges were identified through a targeted needs assessment survey. Each participant will be given a clear assignment outlining the objectives and expected outcomes of their study tour.
In addition to the areas highlighted in the needs assessment, the programme will place special emphasis on recycling installations for specific waste streams and on waste incineration plants. The project will coordinate with related initiatives under the Waste Management and Circular Economy (WMCE) umbrella project, particularly those focusing on End-of-Waste criteria. Where available, practical inspection tools such as checklists may be used during joint inspections, with defined assignments provided to inspectors.
As part of previous activities under the WMCE Phase I Training Programme, a workshop on REACH & Circular Economy was held on 25 November 2021. The summary and presentations from this workshop are available below:
